CO-EXIST ACTION: Galgamuwa: In light of record levels of conflict between humans and elephants, we are orchestrating a "Karmic Reset" in the Galgamuwa region of Sri Lanka.

Please join us for a Blessing ceremony and sutra chanting!

Poor villagers have been recently transplanted into jungles and onto elephant trails that have been used since the dawn of time. Elephants looking for food come across crops that are the only source of food left for the elephants. Villagers have to stay up all night to try to defend their crops and many people lose homes and crops.

Not knowing what else to do, desperate villagers have taken to killing and injuring the elephants.

We want to help the villagers and save the elephants. Based on the Buddhist belief that "everything we experience is the result of our past actions." The negative results can be minimized through purification practices.

On January 8th, 50 people will recite the Golden Light Sutra at the Raswehera Temple in Galgamuwa at 3.00 pm and you can join us on the day.

Please join us by co-sponsoring this event, contact philip@elephantsnow.org.

The ceremony, attended by monks and nuns will be held at the Raswehera Temple, a 2,300 year old monastery complex deep in the jungle.

For visitors, we will help you reach Rasewhere Temple. We are offering free community meals during the day of the event and follow up assistance for local villagers. Other activities will follow the ceremony, including a screening of films - many shot in the surrounding forests in the past several years.
