 Elephant Camp - Glamping Style

In the past, we provided many of the following amenities as a courtesy, but the increasing burden on a small group of us has become unsustainable. Larger storage needs and overextended hauling capacities have necessitated changes. Additionally, we’ve expanded to include more options and luxuries for our camp members.

Water Costs

  • Drinking Water: $4 per gallon

  • Shower Water: $4 per gallon

    • (Includes the cost of disposal or hauling off the Playa.)

    • Our evaporation system reduces shower wastewater by about half, but it requires significant maintenance. The more water used, the greater the burden.

    • When a water truck is available on the Playa, costs are approximately $3 per gallon for non-potable water and $3 per gallon for gray water disposal.

Bike Options

  • Bike Rental (with transport): $150

  • Bike Transport Only: $50

  • Bike Storage: $50

Sleeping Essentials

  • Sleeping Bag: $40

  • Air Mattress: $40

Air Conditioning Options

Air conditioning is available for tents and RVs during peak heat hours (11 a.m. to 5 p.m.). Power is provided during these times.

  • Generator Power for AC: $350

  • Air Conditioning Unit: $150


Lodging Options

  • Standard Tent: $75

Shiftpods

Shiftpods are the most durable and comfortable tents on the Playa, designed to withstand the elements. They are insulated and sealed with an AC port (AC costs extra, see above).

  • Shiftpod (Large): $750

    • Dimensions: 16' x 16' footprint.

    • Includes additional shaded space.

    • No toilet included. Campers typically use a pee bottle and visit the portapotties daily.

  • Shiftpod (Small): $350

    • Dimensions: 6.5' x 6.5', suitable for one person.

    • Includes an AC port.

Trailers

Transporting trailers to Black Rock Desert is a major effort involving specialized trucks, servicing on the Playa, and post-event cleaning. These trailers include built-in toilets, unlike the Shiftpods.

  • 18' Trailer (Sleeps 2, or 4 with bunk): Approximately $6,000 (price on request)

  • 24' Trailer (Sleeps 4, or 6 with bunk): Approximately $8,500 (price on request)
